Improving My Shots

Filed under: Family — Jodi @ 5:20 pm

Last week I mentioned that Fanny had passed along the link for the OptikVerve add-on to Photoshop Elements.  I sure am loving this toy!  Here’s why–I start with a picture that looks like this:

It’s a decent shot; not too much clutter, the lighting isn’t bad. But with the push of one button, I can make it look like this:

I should also thank my in-laws, who gave me Photoshop Elements for Christmas.  I’m still learning the ropes of this program, but the learning process is a lot of fun!

Here are several more pictures from today’s outside play.

Of Sinuses and Things

Filed under: Family — Jodi @ 5:11 pm

One of my readers (Hi, Mom!) noticed that things have been quiet around Cartoon Living the past week.  That’s because I’ve been holed up in bed for four days while my left maxillary sinus attempts to blow a hole in the side of my face.  Today I’m fighting back.  I made a visit to our family doc and now have in my arsenal a round of antibiotics and a stronger painkiller than the wimpy ones I’ve been using (which have only managed to elicit a scornful laugh from the offending sinus).  If I seem a little loopy today, it’s the codeine talking.

We had about eight inches of snow here over the weekend, so Margie and Baba have enjoyed playing outside (now that they are finally over their colds–it’s been a rough couple of weeks).

Junior has been holding his bladder for hours at a time and is showing distress upon wetness.  Daddy and I are tossing around the "PT" word.  So far we’re trying to get him to associate wetness with the potty chair, so we’ve been offering marshamallow bribes to convince him to pee on the throne.  No results yet, but I’m sure you’ll all be hanging around for the play-by-play.  OK, I promise.  No potty talk.  At least not much.

Please pray for my grandma as she recovers from a broken hip and the resulting surgery.  We love you, Grandma!

I’ll be back.

Dear Fannie

Thank you for introducing me to OpticVerve.  I take nice pictures now.

At some point they go from being lots of work to helping with the work.  If you don’t watch closely, you’ll miss the transformation.

She’s Ready For Clown School

Margie’s been a bit of a handful the past couple days (maybe because Daddy was away?), but she still finds ways to keep me in stitches:

Happy Valentine’s Day, Daddy!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Daddy!  We love you!  See you soon!

These are the Valentine’s treats the kids picked out.  Notice not one of them actually wanted a cookie decorate for the occasion.  One opted for a donut instead.  Oh well.

And here’s a little something from Mommy to Daddy:

Thanks, Carrie, for the heart tip.
